Playing Ron Miles at Hot Deli for Infidels Jazz
On Monday, March 3, 2025, I will play the music of the late trumpeter Ron Miles at Hot Deli (aka: The Lido) on East Broadway in Vancouver. Joining me are Feven Kidane, Madeleine Elkins, & Kevin Romain.
This show is the debut of a new series by Infidels Jazz called the East Van Shuffle. Doors 7:30pm. show 8pm.
Miles, based in Denver for most of his life, explored "the blending of American folk, blues and country with cool jazz and spiritual influences" and added "equal doses of rock and free jazz" (Giovanni Russonello, The New York Times). He is perhaps best known for his records with Bill Frisell and Brian Blade, first as a trio and later in a quintet.
